  Choosing spray tips (spray nozzles)

When you bought your Pressure Washer it most likely came with five spray tips, also referred to as spray nozzles. They are color coded and marked with a four or five digit number which indicates spray pattern and orifice size.

The size of the tip influences flow rate and pressure, with the spray pattern also playing an important role. (If your pressure washer did not come with spray tips or yours have just become worn, please use the selection chart provided on the detail page of all of our spray tips under category Tips and Nozzles).

You must know your pressure washer’s GPM and maximum PSI to properly size with our chart. A chemical injector spray tip is usually used at low pressure. The most important thing about your spray tips is to use the correct spray pattern for the job you are performing.

To determine the correct spray tip for your job use the following examples:

RED TIP   0 DEGREE PATTERN FOR BLASTING
  • Removing caked on mud from heavy construction equipment, farm and lawn equipment.
  • Cleaning overhead surfaces.
  • Removing rust from steel and oxidation from aluminum.
  • Cleaning sap, tar, gum, glue and hard to remove stains from concrete.

YELLOW TIP   15 DEGREE PATTERN FOR STRIPPING
  • Removing marine growth from boats and marine equipment.
  • Removing heavy mildew stains.
  • Removing grease and dirt from equipment.
  • Removing paint from masonry, metal or wood.
  • Removing rust from steel and oxidation from aluminum.
  • Rinsing surfaces for preparation of painting.
  • Removing light mildew stains.
  • Removing bacteria and algae build-up from pools.
  • General cleaning of dirt, grime and mud.
  • Cleaning gutters, downspouts and roofs.

WHITE TIP 40 DEGREE PATTERN FOR RINSING

  • Washing and rinsing of recreational vehicle, automobiles and boats.
  • Cleaning roofs, patios, driveways and windows.

Always use care when inspecting spray tips and nozzles, the spray force generated from tips and nozzles can cause serious harm and injury if pointed directly at yourself or others. Before inspecting tips or nozzles always disconnect them from the spray wand.
